Apple had announced the fifth generation iPad, which is called iPad Air, early this morning [23 Oct 2013]. iPad Air retains the same 9.7″ Retina Display. It is 20% thinner, 28% lighter and it also comes with a faster processor.
There are 2 models for iPad Air i.e. wireless only model, and wireless + 4G model. It was announced that the price of iPad Air remains the same as iPad fourth generation. It was anticipated in few Malaysian websites that the price in Malaysia will remain the same, i.e. RM2,199 (for the 32GB 4G + Wifi Model).
iPad Air will be available starting on 1/11 in 42 countries which includes US, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China (Wi-Fi models only), Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macao (Wi-Fi models only), Macedonia, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.
These are the 'first wave' countries, and customers can pre-order on Apple Store online now. Based on the previous releases, Malaysian will be able to get them three to four weeks after that.
iPad Mini with Retina Display
Apple had also announced the second generation iPad Mini, which is called iPad Mini with Retina Display. Not much improvement from the previous iPad Mini. The significant upgrade is the sharper and clear display.
The new iPad Mini will be available later in November, also with similar price released in November 2012.
